Importance of BIM in the whole Construction/Infrastructure Lifecycle

Building information modeling (BIM)is an umbrella which encompasses different techniques, procedures, and workflows to conduct processes more efficiently and effectively for construction and infrastructure projects. This lecture will highlight the importance and relevance of BIM throughout the whole building lifecycle from design, through to construction and finally operations phases. The focus will be provided on the different features of BIM which include policies, people and processes as well as technology. Additionally, case studies demonstrating perceived benefits will be presented.
