Building Information Modelling: Integrated Design Environment for Engineering Education (BIMide3)
About the project
Currently, most construction professionals gain new knowledge through learning-by-doing supplemented occasionally by on-the-job training activities. The failure of these traditional modes are frequently evident in project failures and problems in the form of increased construction costs, delays in execution, and worse, in situation involving accidents that are sometimes fatal. It is now widely accepted that Building Information Modelling (BIM) offers a significant catalyst that can transform the performance of the Construction Industry by allowing construction professionals to develop project management skills that simulate, in a virtual environment, the practical situations and problems that are encountered in real-world projects. BIM is a process involving the structured creation, sharing, use and re-use of digital information about buildings or built assets throughout their entire lifecycle, from design through procurement and construction and beyond, into operation and management. This involves the use of coordinated 3D design models enriched with data which are created and managed using a range of interoperable technologies.

Project Objectives
- Establish MSc degree in DE4C and IPD in line with ECTS
- Establish six DE4C Technology Centres in six Egyptian Universities
- Develop DE4C and IPD Kits for the different practitioners
- Conduct Training of Trainers (TOT) programs for DE4C and IPD that will contribute to the delivery of sustainable buildings
- Create innovative learning environments for disseminating DE4C and IPD
- Generate a network/association of BIM technology in Egypt
